TE Michael McFarland to transfer from Florida

Former Tampa Blake star TE Michael McFarland has been the latest Florida Gator player to leave the football program, according to head coach Will Muschamp. Blake, who was a redshirt freshman this past season, did dress out for three games but did not see any time on the field. “Michael and I have come to the conclusion that it is in his best interest to transfer from the University of Florida,” Muschamp said in a statement. “We wish him the best as he continues his career somewhere else.” Before his freshman season, McFarland was rated the No. 12 overall...

Gators’ capture 12th commit of 2012 class

Lorenzo Phillips became the Gators 12th commitment of the 2012 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1 OLB out of Patterson, La. had committed to Texas A&M for a day back in the month of march before changing his mind. A visit to Baton Rouge right after making his commitment had a huge factor. Phillips will be the second line backer to commit in the class along with Largo native Jeremi Powell who had committed earlier this spring. For all of you out there who is following the recruiting this year, Muschamp seems to mainly target linebackers. Florida also signed a linebacker...

A look at the 2011 Gators: Skill Positions

With most of the offensive talent from this year’s recruiting class already on board or even enrolled, we can begin to speculate on what Charlie Weis’ offense might look like in 2011, and what players will find their way into the lineup. This is part one of a four part series that will break down the 2011 Gator team. You cannot open any conversation about an offense without first addressing the quarterback situation. As disappointing as you may be, the odds are Johnny Brantley will be the starting quarterback by the time fall arrives. It is obvious Brantley showed...

A Look At The 2011 Florida Gators: Offensive Line

When we take a look at the 2011 Florida Gator offensive line, the names that jump off the page are obviously the returning starters or the players who have previous experience. Although, the Gators lose plenty of talent up front, they have some very talented returning starters and some very talented young men waiting to get their opportunity. Xavier Nixon has had an impressive young career as a Florida Gator. Since moving into the starting lineup as a true freshman in the South Carolina game in 2009, Nixon has been a solid force on the outside. The offensive line...
